Through a hermeneutical approach, literary works are understood as social discourses that reflect societal value systems, rather than merely aesthetic products. The study responds to the limitations of normative approaches in entrepreneurship education, which often emphasize practice and outcomes, by highlighting the importance of symbolic and narrative dimensions in literary texts. A qualitative method employing hermeneutic text analysis was applied to two novels by Asma Nadia: Bidadari untuk Dewa and Cinta Dua Kodi. Data were collected through close reading, literature review, interpretive validation, narrative excerpt classification, and categorization based on entrepreneurial character indicators. The findings reveal seven dominant entrepreneurial traits: responsibility, risk-taking, achievement motivation, self-confidence and optimism, collaboration, creativity and innovation, and leadership. Using the hermeneutic circle method, each trait was analyzed as a construction of meaning, emerging not only from narrative progression but also from the symbolic interaction between text and reader. These narratives show that entrepreneurial characters in the novels are shaped by the tension between personal idealism, religious values, and socio-economic dynamics. In-depth interpretation of dialogues, monologues, and dramatic situations enables a comprehensive reading of entrepreneurial actions as representations of cultural and spiritual identity. This research contributes to the interdisciplinary integration between literature and entrepreneurship studies by emphasizing the narrative dimension in shaping entrepreneurial character. The results demonstrate that literary texts can serve as reflective media in entrepreneurship education to foster ethical, resilient, and value-oriented entrepreneurial mindsets. The study recommends the strategic use of literature as a pedagogical tool to enrich value-based approaches in entrepreneurship development.
Asman Copyright (c) 2025 GHANCARAN: Jurnal Pendidikan Bahasa dan Sastra Indonesia https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0 https://ejournal.iainmadura.ac.id/index.php/ghancaran/article/view/21599 Mon, 08 Sep 2025 10:31:28 +0700 Religion and Culture in the Preservation of Tembang Macapat in Jawa and Madura: A Historical Approach https://ejournal.iainmadura.ac.id/index.php/ghancaran/article/view/21687
Tembang Macapat (Macapat songs), as an expression of traditional oral literature, play an important role in preserving Islamic values in Java and Madura, making them a relevant material object in the context of culture-based da'wah. This research is important because it shows how local culture functions not only as an aesthetic heritage, but also as a spiritual and educational medium. The objective of this study is to examine the role of Tembang Macapat (macapat songs) as a medium for Islamic da'wah and moral education within the framework of local culture. This study employs a qualitative method with a historical-cultural approach, with the subjects of study comprising Tembang Macapat (macapat song) texts, Islamic manuscripts, and oral tradition narratives from Javanese and Madurese communities. The research findings reveal three main points: (1) Tembang (Songs) such as Pangkur, Dhandhanggula, and Megatruh contain Islamic values such as tazkiyatun nafs, tauhid, and awareness of the afterlife; (2) The Islamisation of culture occurs through symbolic and adaptive processes, not confrontational ones; (3) The Madurese song tradition conveys social ethics contextually within the family environment. These findings affirm that Tembang Macapat (macapat songs) are a strategic instrument in peacefully, aesthetically, and contextually grounding Islamic teachings within a multicultural society
A. Culture influences the perception, control, and expression of emotions not least within counselling where much emphasis is laid on sensitivity to cultural norms and values. The purpose of this research is to describe forms of emotional languages in Madurese culture and discuss the implications for culturally responsive counseling. This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach, where data is obtained through literature review, interviews, observation, and documentation. The results of this study show that the Madurese people manifest their feelings to others directly (blak-blakan) and indirectly using symbolic language with the values of dignity (martabat), propriety (tengka), patience (sabbhar), and social solidarity. An understanding of these ways of communicating emotions is critical in counseling for the development of therapeutic relationships that are both effective and culturally sensitive. The study suggests the need for integrating more empathy, contextually and culturally sensitive training approach that takes into consideration local value system as well as the need to tailor interventions to reflect local cultural sensitivities as a way of improving the effectiveness of psychological support.
The study focuses on how users from both cultures practice linguistic politeness in digital platforms such as social media and instant messaging applications. The method used is a qualitative study employing pragmatic discourse analysis techniques. Data consists of 90 utterances from conversations on Instagram (30 utterances), WhatsApp (30 utterances), and Twitter (30 utterances) from both cultural groups. The findings indicate that Indonesian society tends to use negative politeness strategies more explicitly, such as honorifics, apologies, and euphemisms, while Western society more frequently employs positive politeness emphasizing familiarity, recognition of individual identity, and the use of humor. These differences reflect underlying cultural values such as collectivism versus individualism. This study contributes to 1) understanding the dynamics of cross-cultural digital communication and its implications for the development of global communication ethics in the digital age, and 2) providing a crucial foundation for developing more effective cross-cultural digital communication guidelines, whether in business, diplomacy, or education contexts.
Nur Lailiyah, Teguh Setiawan, Madiawati Mamat@ Mustaffa Copyright (c) 2025 GHANCARAN: Jurnal Pendidikan Bahasa dan Sastra Indonesia https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0 https://ejournal.iainmadura.ac.id/index.php/ghancaran/article/view/21625 Wed, 10 Sep 2025 09:28:47 +0700 Enhancing Sociolinguistic Competence through a Digital Flipped Classroom: A Case Study in Indonesian as a Second Language Learning https://ejournal.iainmadura.ac.id/index.php/ghancaran/article/view/21605
Indonesian language instruction for foreign learners (BIPA) often places strong emphasis on grammatical proficiency while overlooking sociolinguistic competence—an aspect that is crucial for effective intercultural communication. This study aims to describe the implementation of a flipped classroom model in developing pragmatic awareness and register adaptation among BIPA learners. Using a qualitative case study approach, the research involved intermediate-level BIPA students from diverse cultural backgrounds. Data were collected through oral tests, classroom recordings, in-depth interviews, and student-generated digital artifacts. The results indicate significant improvement, particularly in register adaptation and cultural expression, each showing an average gain of 15 points. Qualitatively, learners demonstrated progress in using politeness strategies and shifting speech styles more contextually. The model created a learning space that was not only reflective and participatory, but also culturally relevant. This study aimed to examine the effectiveness of science practicum-based learning in enhancing students’ ability to interpret visual representations while simultaneously reducing academic stress. The research employed a one-group pre-test and post-test experimental design involving 25 seventh-grade students, with instruments consisting of a visual literacy test and a modified Student-Life Stress Inventory (SLSI) questionnaire. The findings revealed a significant increase in students’ visual literacy scores, from an average of 50.8 to 72, with a paired t-test result of p = 0.000 (< 0.05), confirming that practicum-based learning strengthens students’ capacity to read and interpret visual representations in line with constructivist theory. Furthermore, academic stress measurement on 24 students showed that 37% were in the low-stress category, 63% in moderate stress, and none in high stress, indicating that practicum-based learning effectively alleviates academic stress. However, the relatively high proportion of moderate stress highlights the need for additional strategies such as psychosocial support and time management. This study underscores that practicum-based learning not only improves visual literacy but also serves as a humanistic approach that promotes students’ academic well-being and supports the development of 21st-century curricula.
Mohammad Hefni, Fathol Haliq, Fitriyatul Qomariyah, Iswatun Hasanah, Selvi Fauziyah, Fatimatuz Zahroh Copyright (c) 2025 GHANCARAN: Jurnal Pendidikan Bahasa dan Sastra Indonesia https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0 https://ejournal.iainmadura.ac.id/index.php/ghancaran/article/view/21732 Wed, 10 Sep 2025 10:10:43 +0700 The Representation of Local Wisdom as An Educational Aspect in Eastern Indonesian Films https://ejournal.iainmadura.ac.id/index.php/ghancaran/article/view/21776
Tulisan ini membahas mengenai representasi nilai pendidikan dalam aspek kearifan lokal terhadap film berlatar Indonesia Timur. The purpose of this study is to address gaps in ethical AI governance within Indonesian vocational schools (SMK). A sequential explanatory mixed-methods design was employed, involving 847 stakeholders from 34 provinces and eight in-depth SMK case studies. Findings reveal moderate national AI ethics awareness (M=2.83), with significant regional gaps—from Java (3.01) to Papua (2.34)—and a critical privacy paradox: high concern (M=3.67) coexists with low legal literacy (28.9%). Students actively use AI for academic support (64.3%) but lack institutional guidance, while teachers face identity crises requiring deeper pedagogical reform beyond technical training. The proposed ETIKA-SMK framework, co-developed with experts, received strong validation (relevance 4.3/5.0; innovation 4.4/5.0) and showed improvements in ethical policy compliance (67.8%) and cybersecurity practices (58.7%) at pilot schools. The study highlights the need for differentiated implementation strategies, as 50% of SMKs fall into “Traditional” or “Struggling” categories requiring foundational capacity-building. Zawawi Imron through the perspective of Madurese culture with Roland Barthes' semiotic approach. The analyzed poems, especially the poem entitled "Mother", represent the figure of the mother not only as a family figure, but also as closely attached to the cultural values of Madurese society. The method used to describe this is descriptive qualitative which is a process of analyzing data through logical descriptions. The results of the study show that (1) denotatively and connotatively, the mother is depicted as a noble, steadfast, and sacrificial figure, in line with the noble values of Madurese culture that uphold the steadfastness and honor of women as the pillars of the family; (2) mythologically, the mother is represented as a symbol of the homeland, spiritual strength, and cultural identity that is rooted in Madurese society. D. Zawawi Imron's poetry is not only a personal expression of the figure of the mother, but also a collective reflection of Madurese culture on traditional morals and ethics.
Mila Ayu Sri Wardani, Agus Purnomo Ahmad Putikadyanto, Agik Nur Efendi, Aldi Firnanda Copyright (c) 2025 GHANCARAN: Jurnal Pendidikan Bahasa dan Sastra Indonesia https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0 https://ejournal.iainmadura.ac.id/index.php/ghancaran/article/view/21729 Sat, 13 Sep 2025 00:00:00 +0700 Penguatan Kompetensi Ekoliterasi Siswa SMP melalui Pemanfaatan E-bahan Ajar Bahasa Indonesia Bermuatan Pesisir Madura https://ejournal.iainmadura.ac.id/index.php/ghancaran/article/view/21682
This research aims to describe the core competencies of ecoliteracy in Indonesian language e-teaching materials, with a focus on the coast of Madura. Specifically, it examines the application of e-teaching materials in Indonesian language learning, particularly in the context of the Madura coast. It seeks to enhance the ecoliteracy of junior high school students. The research method employed is a qualitative approach, utilizing data collection techniques that include interviews, observation, documentation, and questionnaires. Data analysis was carried out through the stages of data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion. Testing the validity of the data is conducted in two ways: source triangulation and technical triangulation. The results of the research show that the application of e-teaching materials containing Madurese psychology can strengthen junior high school students' ecoliteracy competencies, both mind, heart, and hands competencies. Mind, heart, and hand can be integrated in e-teaching materials through the presentation of various text genres and modes, project-based learning activities, learning communities, reflection, and continuous evaluation. The mind can be observed through students' ability to understand ecological concepts, environmental issues, and solutions to environmental problems. Heart can be seen in an increased attitude of respect and care for the environment. Hands can be seen in students' activeness in protecting and caring for the environment. The results of the student responses were 88%, indicating that students can apply ecoliteracy competencies.
Afiyah Nur Kayati, Ira Fatmawati, Dwi Fakihatus Syarifah Copyright (c) 2025 GHANCARAN: Jurnal Pendidikan Bahasa dan Sastra Indonesia https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0 https://ejournal.iainmadura.ac.id/index.php/ghancaran/article/view/21682 Fri, 12 Sep 2025 10:12:45 +0700 Disrupting Patriarchy Through Critical Literacy: A Textual and Pedagogical Analysis of Faqihuddin Abdul Kodir’s Writings on Gender Justice in Contemporary Indonesia https://ejournal.iainmadura.ac.id/index.php/ghancaran/article/view/21662
Patriarchal narratives in Indonesian educational and religious texts continue to reproduce gender inequality, making critical literacy an urgent pedagogical approach. This study aims to examine how the works of Faqihuddin Abdul Kodir contribute to promoting gender justice in language education through critical literacy practices. Employing a qualitative case study design, the research involved interviews, classroom observations, and document analysis with language teachers and education students in Cirebon who engaged with Faqihuddin’s writings and mubadalah framework. The findings reveal that teachers and students developed greater awareness of gender bias in texts and adopted reflective reading strategies to internalize ethical values such as justice and reciprocity. Teachers began to integrate inclusive language and encourage rewriting exercises from female perspectives, which positioned students as agents of social change. Furthermore, educators started to redefine their professional roles from mere linguistic instructors to facilitators of social justice. These results demonstrate the transformative potential of gender-just critical literacy pedagogy in both Islamic and multilingual educational contexts. This study concludes that integrating gender-conscious texts and reflective practices can enrich language classrooms, advance gender equality, and offer a progressive Islamic contribution to global critical literacy discourse.
Muhamad Fathi Ilmy, Ilman Nafi'a, Septi Gumiandari, Huriyah Huriyah, Nazwa Ilmy Copyright (c) 2025 GHANCARAN: Jurnal Pendidikan Bahasa dan Sastra Indonesia https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0 https://ejournal.iainmadura.ac.id/index.php/ghancaran/article/view/21662 Fri, 12 Sep 2025 10:33:10 +0700 Development Of E-Module with Scientific Approach using FlipHTML5 on The Learning of Observation Report Text Writing Based on Banyuwangi Local Wisdom for Class X Vocational School https://ejournal.iainmadura.ac.id/index.php/ghancaran/article/view/21700
The limitation of learning materials that focus solely on structure and linguistic aspects demonstrates the need for the development of teaching materials that encourage students to think scientifically in a comprehensive manner, starting from observation to report writing. This study aims to assist students in understanding report text materials more effectively as well as to contribute to the preservation of local wisdom. The e-module on observation report texts based on local wisdom is in line with the objectives of the national curriculum, which emphasizes character development and cultural understanding. This article fills this gap by analyzing the short story Azul Maya by Laksmi Pamuntjak from the anthology Kitab Kawin, with a focus on the trauma of child victims of incest. This research is limited to one short story to explore the complexity of the main character's psychological experience. Using a literary psychology approach, descriptive qualitative method, and thematic analysis, the research found trauma symptoms in the form of anger, anxiety, fear, and depression reflected in emotional changes, withdrawn behavior, eating disorders, and dissociation. This representation reveals trauma as a structural impact of sexual violence in a patriarchal system. The findings affirm the function of literature as an aesthetic medium as well as social critique, and expand the interdisciplinary contributions between literature and psychology.

Windi Novela, Agus Wartiningsih, Mariyadi Mariyadi Copyright (c) 2025 GHANCARAN: Jurnal Pendidikan Bahasa dan Sastra Indonesia https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0 https://ejournal.iainmadura.ac.id/index.php/ghancaran/article/view/21706 Fri, 12 Sep 2025 00:00:00 +0700 Fashion Product is Human: Structural Metaphor as a Linguistic Strategy for Second Hand Fashion Products on Live Commerce in Indonesia https://ejournal.iainmadura.ac.id/index.php/ghancaran/article/view/21653
This study aims to describe the structural metaphors employed by second-hand fashion product shop hosts on live commerce. The qualitative research was carried out by collecting data through the free-participation listening technique on live commerce activities, then continuing with semi-structured interviews with live commerce shop hosts. Live commerce used as a place to collect data was Shopee Live. The collected data was checked for data validity through language expert validation. The present study employed data analysis techniques from the cognitive semantics perspective. The findings indicated that cross-medium communication during the procurement and disposition of secondhand fashion products in live commerce fosters a distinct personification tendency in the conceptualization of "FASHION PRODUCT IS HUMAN." This conceptualization enables sellers of second-hand fashion products to employ human attributes, including body parts, physical condition, and socioeconomic status, as metaphors to portray the state of the product or to create a favorable impression. This study provides novel insights for individuals or entities engaged in the sale of second-hand fashion products through live streaming. It demonstrates that the utilization of metaphors is not only crucial for articulating product condition, but also for fostering character development, nurturing relationships, and sustaining the engagement of online shoppers.
Yoga Yolanda, Budi Setyono Copyright (c) 2025 GHANCARAN: Jurnal Pendidikan Bahasa dan Sastra Indonesia https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0 https://ejournal.iainmadura.ac.id/index.php/ghancaran/article/view/21653 Fri, 12 Sep 2025 20:12:54 +0700 Revitalizing Madurese Folklore through the "Careta Madhura" Media in BIPA Learning as a Cultural Education Strategy https://ejournal.iainmadura.ac.id/index.php/ghancaran/article/view/21695
Research on Madurese folklore is of high urgency in preserving local culture amid the rapid pace of globalization. Globalization often leads to cultural homogenization, threatening the relevance of oral traditions such as folklore. Revitalizing Madurese folklore is a strategic step to keep cultural values alive and known to a wider audience. The proposed effort is to integrate folklore into the Indonesian Language for Foreign Speakers (BIPA) program. The main objective of this research is to develop the “Careta Madhura” learning media that utilizes folklore as culture-based teaching materials. The method used is development research with the 4D model (Define, Design, Develop, Disseminate). The research stages included identifying material needs, designing media concepts, developing modules and interactive digital content, and limited dissemination. The product's feasibility was assessed by BIPA experts and Madurese cultural experts, then tested on beginner-level BIPA learners using data collection techniques such as questionnaires, observation, and interviews. The novelty of this research lies in its contextual role-play approach, which allows learners to experience cultural values directly, unlike conventional learning methods that tend to emphasize grammar. The results of the study show that “Careta Madhura” is feasible and effective, both as an innovative medium to enrich BIPA materials and as a sustainable strategy for introducing Madurese cultural heritage to the global arena.
Emy Rizta Kusuma, Siti Mutiatun, M. The focus of the study lies in the values of courage, honor, the symbol of the celurit (traditional sickle), and social responsibility as key pillars of masculinity constructed in the story. This research uses a qualitative approach with descriptive-analytical methods. The primary data consists of the Ke’ Lesap text, collected through document studies, while secondary data is obtained from literature on masculinity and Madurese culture. The analysis technique applies content analysis to identify masculine themes in the story’s quotations, which are then interpreted using the theory of hegemonic masculinity (Connell & Messerschmidt, 2005) and cultural representation theory (Hall, 1997). The results show that masculinity in Ke’ Lesap is embodied through the main character’s courage and willingness to sacrifice for honor, the use of the celurit as a symbol of dignity, and the social role as a protector of community integrity. Masculinity in this tale emphasizes not only individual strength but also moral responsibility toward family and society. The research is grounded in the view that women and nature are often positioned as objects of patriarchal domination, yet at the same time hold the potential for resistance and ecological recovery. The aim of this study is to describe four central aspects of Griffin’s thought, namely (1) women as guardians of nature, (2) the feminization of nature and the naturalization of women, (3) roar as a symbol of resistance, and (4) the ethics of care and the interconnectedness between women and the environment. The method employed is descriptive qualitative with reading-note techniques and interpretative analysis of the novel’s narrative. The findings show that the character Srintil represents both the female body and nature silenced by social structures, yet still preserves spiritual strength, ecological awareness, and a form of silent resistance. Srintil’s inner bond with the Dukuh Paruk landscape demonstrates the role of women as agents in restoring human–nature relations through the integration of cultural, spiritual, and ecological values. These findings reaffirm the relevance of ecofeminism as a critical perspective in Indonesian literary studies as well as a futurological foundation for envisioning a more just, empathetic, and sustainable society. Thus, the novel not only presents cultural and ecological narratives, but also provides insights into the strategic role of women in socio-ecological transformation. However, the representation of this competence in formal BIPA assessment has received limited critical attention. This study aims to evaluate the visibility of pluricultural competence through the representation of basa-basi in assessment tasks found in government-issued BIPA textbooks. Employing a descriptive qualitative approach and Fairclough’s model of Critical Discourse Analysis (CDA), the study analyzes seven official BIPA textbooks from Levels 1 and 2, with a focus on assessment sections. The findings reveal that the representation of basa-basi remains limited and fails to capture the complexity of Indonesian sociocultural interaction. Assessment items tend to prioritize structural aspects of language while overlooking pragmatic and cultural dimensions. The study concludes that insufficient attention to pluricultural competence in assessment may hinder BIPA learners from achieving full communicative competence. Javanese, with the largest number of speakers, could potentially experience the same condition if not maintained sustainably. One factor contributing to the marginalization of Javanese is the growing popularity of imported foods among the millennial generation, which distances them from traditional culinary vocabulary in Javanese. This study aims to examine the role of traditional culinary tourism in sustaining the existence of the Javanese language in Tulungagung. The research employed a qualitative method with an ethnographic approach through field observations, interviews with culinary business owners, and discourse analysis of language use in promotion and interactions among entrepreneurs, tourists, and local communities. The findings reveal that Javanese continues to be consistently used in the naming of traditional foods, transactional communication between sellers and buyers, and culinary history narratives passed on to visitors. The use of Javanese in these contexts strengthens local cultural identity while promoting intergenerational language transmission. The study also identified 22 traditional culinary products that remain preserved, with language practices combining Javanese Krama and Ngoko, as well as code-switching with Indonesian depending on communicative needs. These findings affirm that traditional culinary tourism in Tulungagung not only contributes to the preservation of gastronomic heritage but also serves as a strategic medium for the maintenance and revitalization of the Javanese language in the era of globalization.
Siti Zumrotul Maulida, Oktavia Winda Lestari, Silfia Qurrotul A’yun, Septinaningrum Septinaningrum Copyright (c) 2025 GHANCARAN: Jurnal Pendidikan Bahasa dan Sastra Indonesia https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0 https://ejournal.iainmadura.ac.id/index.php/ghancaran/article/view/21736 Tue, 16 Sep 2025 22:37:44 +0700 Narrative Analysis of the ‘Mountain’ Legend in the Gromore Studio Series Animated Video: A Futurological Study of Alternative Media for Listening Instruction https://ejournal.iainmadura.ac.id/index.php/ghancaran/article/view/21676
The use of animated videos featuring the legends of “mountains” can serve as a relevant alternative medium for enhancing listening skills while simultaneously instilling local cultural values in students. This study analyzes the narrative structure of mountain legend animations from the Gromore Studio Series YouTube channel, as well as the potential and challenges of using such videos as listening comprehension learning media. A descriptive qualitative approach with narrative analysis was employed. The data sources consisted of three animated videos titled Legenda Gunung Merapi, Legenda Gunung Kelud, and Asal-Usul Gunung Arjuna, produced by Gromore Studio Series on YouTube.
