Proper sex education from an early age is essential to ensure children grow up with a proper understanding of their bodies, interpersonal relationships, and moral values related to sexuality. This study aims to reveal the importance of parents' role in early childhood sexuality education as a foundation in preventing violence and sexual abuse against children. The research method used is a literature study, by identifying, evaluating, and analyzing available information to answer predetermined research questions. The results showed that the family is the first informal educational institution for children, where the role of parents is very central in shaping children's character and behavior, including in terms of sexuality education. Parents are responsible for providing appropriate and relevant information according to the child's developmental stage, as well as instilling strong moral values. However, the main challenge faced by parents is the lack of knowledge and understanding of how to provide proper sex education, as well as the influence of the media that often presents information that is not suitable for children. In conclusion, sex education provided by parents from an early age has an important role in protecting children from the dangers of sexual violence and abuse, so efforts are needed to improve parents' knowledge in this regard.
Rahmadhani Fitri Mega Iswari Afdal Mowafg Masuwd Copyright (c) 2024 Rahmadhani Fitri, Mega Iswari, Afdal, Mowafg Masuwd https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 2024-08-12 2024-08-12 5 2 295 309 10.19105/kiddo.v5i2.14327 The Correlation Between Parental Awareness and Concern to The Early Childhoods' Digital Safety https://ejournal.iainmadura.ac.id/index.php/kiddo/article/view/13382
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengukur tingkat kesadaran orang tua terhadap keamanan digital dan tingkat kekhawatiran orang tua terhadap risiko keamanan digital pada anak usia dini. The research method used is descriptive qualitative. The sampling technique used was purposive sampling, namely 31 children and 2 teachers with the aim of classes using regional languages. Data was collected through direct observation and structured interviews with teachers at the kindergarten. The results of the research show that the intensity of using regional languages in learning is often used in class B. The advantage of using regional languages in learning is that children easily understand the material. The weakness of using regional languages in learning is that a small number of children who cannot use regional languages are unable to understand the material presented by the teacher. This means that regional languages are effectively used in learning because the majority of children understand regional languages as an introductory language in learning. The background of this research is based on the observation that the role of fathers in parenting is often limited to economic aspects, while the caregiving role is predominantly assumed by mothers. This phenomenon can have a negative impact on children's social and emotional development, as the presence and involvement of fathers are crucial in shaping a child's character. This study employs a qualitative approach with a descriptive phenomenological method to depict the social reality in the field, using interviews with five heads of families in the village. The results of the study indicate that although fathers in Tamberu Laok Village are generally responsible for fulfilling the family's economic needs and maintaining harmonious relationships within the family, their involvement in child-rearing remains limited. This limitation affects children's social development, as evidenced by low self-esteem, difficulties in forming self-identity, and a lack of social skills. Additionally, the limited time spent with their fathers impacts the children's ability to manage their emotions. Therefore, this study emphasizes the importance of increasing fathers' involvement in caregiving to support the optimal social, emotional, and psychological development of children.
