Disclosure of Generative AI in Scientific Articles
The authors of PERDIKAN should declare the use of generative AI in the writing process of their manuscripts. The use of AI tools must not be used to analyze the data sets and generate and interpret the findings as part of the research. It must be conducted to ensure the originality of the research itself.
Outlined below are the rules for using generative AI in the preparation of the paper:
- Generative AI tools can be used to should only be used to improve the readability of articles or the language (such as grammar checking, spelling, and punctuation correction). Please note that although AI tools can be powerful tools to translate the manuscript, human translation or proofreading is more recommended, as the AI translation has the potential to yield biased results.
- Humans should review and edit the contents generated by AI, as these technologies can produce inaccurate, exaggerated, and misleading information.
- AI tools cannot be credited as authors or co-authors, as authorship entails responsibilities that only humans can fulfill.
To comply with this policy, authors must write a statement in a section titled “Disclosure of AI Generative Content,” in the supplementary data put in the end of the manuscript. The statements are like this
Example:
“During the preparation of this manuscript, the authors used [insert AI tool name (version, and developer)] for [provide a clear description of the purposes and the extent of its use]. All AI-generated outputs were critically reviewed and thoroughly edited by the authors to ensure factual accuracy, clarity of expression, and compliance with academic standards. The authors take full responsibility for the integrity and content of this manuscript.”
If there was no use of generative AI, this section may be omitted.
The submitted manuscripts must not exceed 20% for both the similarity index and AI-generated content. Manuscripts exceeding this threshold will be returned to the authors for revision or immediate rejection at the discretion of the editorial team.
