Abstract
Di tengah carut marut problem pendidikan yang semakin mendasar dan mengakar, menggali pemikiran para tokoh dipandang penting dalam rangka ikut memberikan enlighment terhadap pemikiran dan me-refresh dinamika kependidikan yang selama ini sudah mengarah kepada materialisasi dan mekanisasi. Pemikiran Saifuddin Zuhri tentang konsep guru yang ideal, pendidikan berbasis masyarakat dan aspek-aspek pemikirannya yang lain, kiranya dapat dipandang sebagai salah satu alternatif dalam mengatasi carut marut praktik pendidikan yang semakin jauh dari khittah-nya sebagai upaya memanusiakan manusia.
