PERKEMBANGAN PENDIDIKAN PESANTREN DI INDONESIA
Abstract
ahli, dalam dan luar negeri dengan beragam pendekatan, namun
sering menghasilkan kesimpulan yang tidak konsisten dan
karenanya tidak memuaskan. Tulisan ini berusaha mendeskripsikan
eksistensi pesantren yang telah berlangsung selama enam abad
sekaligus menjadi satu-satunya institusi pendidikan milik
masyarakat pribumi yang menjadi ujung tombak pembangunan
peradaban Melayu Nusantara sekaligus telah memberikan
kontribusi sangat besar dalam membentuk masyarakat melek huruf
dan melek budaya. Dinyatakan pula, dengan eksistensinya yang
semakin bertahan dan memperoleh pengakuan serta variasinya
yang semakin beragam telah mengantarkan pada kesimpulan
pesantren memiliki karakter plural, beragam dan tidak uniform.
