Abstract
Peradaban modern sebagai budaya antroposentris yang diperkenalkan Barat telah banyak mempengaruhi budaya masyarakat Islam, termasuk munculnya dualisme (dikotomi) pendidikan yang telah memancing terbelahnya pemikiran intelektual muslim. Dengan menggunakan pendekatan dialektif-kreatif, al-Faruqi menegaskan agar dualisme tersebut dihilangkan sekaligus menawarkan epistemologi pengetahuan baru yang didasarkan atas prinsip tauhid sebagai esensi ajaran Islam. Sistem pengetahuan yang akan dibangun adalah sebuah sintesis kreatif dari dua kutub pengetahuan, Barat dan Islam.
