Abstract
Tasawuf, dalam konteks historis, merupakan bagian tak terpisahkan (integral) khazanah ilmu-ilmu keislaman. Dalam perkembangannya, baik sebagai sebuah konsep pemikiran maupun sebagai sebuah praktik dan gerakan, membutuhkan dan mengembangkan satu sistem pendidikan yang khas di mana persoalan spiritual mendapat tempat paling dominan. Pada gilirannya, perkembangan ini melahirkan lembaga-lembaga pendidikan sufi yang merupakan fenomena besar dan tidak mungkin diabaikan dalam kajian sejarah pendidikan Islam. Diantara lembaga tersebut ada tiga jenis terpenting yang menjadi bahasan ini: ribâth, zâwiyah dan khanqah.
