Abstract
Al-Qur'an memberi gambaran yang sangat variatif tentang manusia dengan berbagai macam penyifatannya. Dengan adanya berbagai sifat negatif atau kelemahan yang dimiliki manusia, maka diperlukan langkah-langkah efektif dan upaya solutif untuk meminimalkan potensi negatif sekaligus berusaha untuk memaksimalkan potensi positif melalui pendidikan. Oleh karena itu, tugas dan fungsi pendidikan dalam Islam adalah untuk membimbing dan mengarahkan manusia agar menyadari esensi dan eksistensi dirinya. sehingga secara esensial ia akan mampu untuk memposisikan diri sebagai ‘abd Allâh, dan secara eksistensial ia mampu mewujudkan tugas sebagai khalîfah Allâh.
