Abstract
Di tengah multikulturalitas kehidupan, eksistensi pendidikan agama berbasis multikulturalisme merupakan suatu keniscayaan sebagai bingkai sarana internalisasi nilai-nilai multikulturalitas dengan basis teologis ajaran agama. Tulisan ini berupaya mendeskripsikan gagasan Nurcholish Madjid tentang multikulturalisme pendidikan agama (Islam). Melalui penelusuran berpola analisis isi dan hermeneutika model semi Dilthey-an terhadap gagasan Nurcholish Madjid, ditemukan letak kelebihan sekaligus kekurangan dari gagasan tokoh tersebut yakni belum ditemukannya the body of knowledge dari konsep multikulturalisme pendidikan agama (Islam), sehingga direkomendasikan pentingnya studi lanjut.
